the first snow
It snowed yesterday and it was magical. And I may or may not be playing
Christmas music when I'm in the car with my kids, who happen to love it
just as much, if not more than I do. As usual, I wish everything my
daughter wears came in my size. #sigh

a plaid scarf
The morning we took these pictures it was windy and cold. Plus, my daughter has been waking up at 6am every morning for weeks now which has been making her kind of grumpy. I hope she goes back to sleeping until 7am again soon!
Even grumpy though, she's still as sweet as can be and extra snuggly.

sweater weather - finally!
I guess Mother Nature heard me say we were enjoying warm weather because the temperature quickly dropped 20 degrees. But I love it! We get to wear cozy sweaters and socks now and it actually feels like Fall.

the basics
Basics are a staple in a wardrobe and that is definitely true for kids. I try to find things that are comfy but still cute so that my kids can run and play with the freedom to move that they need to really have fun.

play time
We got a ton of rain yesterday and today is full of sunshine, so it's the perfect time to play outside in the wet dirt.
One thing I'm grateful for is that the kids clothes have held up so well, even through the endless hours of play they've endured all summer. My daughter's shirt still looks new! And it's been stained more times than I care to admit.

baby fashion iii
It's mid September and the high today is 82 and earlier this week it got into the 90s. And half of August was like 70 degrees and raining. What's up with this weather, Utah? It has been nice to enjoy the last weeks of Summer in weather that actually feels like summer, but Fall officially starts on the 23rd and it's my favorite season, so I really hope it cools down 20 or so degrees. Who's with me!? Well, in the mean time, my daughter is getting to wear some of the clothes I bought her for the colder months. Like this skirt, which I think will be so cute with some thick tights, a warm sweater and boots. Something like this. Adorable, right?

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday yesterday! I am just so grateful for the freedoms that we enjoy every day. My mom's dad was in the Air Force and my brother-in-law is a Marine and I am especially grateful for all they've done to defend our freedoms. After all, freedom isn't free.
Last week, after getting my daughter dressed for the day, she was being really cute and "posey," so I thought I'd take advantage of her mood and snap some pictures. We had just bought the kids some sunglasses at the Children's Place Outlet by us. They're normally $4.50 each or 2 for $6, but with the Memorial Day sales going on, we got each pair for $1.80. Such a steal! The kids love wearing them, but also, since they were so inexpensive, if they happen to break (like most things our kids get their hands on), it's not a huge loss for us.
Isn't she a natural?

Baby Fashion
I don't consider myself a fashion expert, but I do get asked a lot about where I shop for my kids. Shopping for them is easily a thousand times more fun than it is for myself. Window shopping for them is my favorite, and a little dangerous, but when I do it, the main thing I look for is a good deal on cute items that aren't cheesy. I can't stand cheesy kids clothes, i.e. oversized pant legs, weird characters or sayings, or things that are over-the-top frilly or glittery. When I shop for my kids, I keep one thing in mind: "Would I put this on myself or my husband?" Now, with my son I'm a little more lenient about the t-shirts. He has one with sharks all over it and another cute one from H&M that has a monster eating a banana. Obviously I wouldn't put those on my husband, but that's about as far as I can go with characters for my kids. Anyway, I thought it would be fun to share some of my favorite outfits I put on my kids.
We took a trip to Denver this past week (I'll post about it later) and since we were driving, I wanted the kids to be comfortable without having to put them in their pj's. This is what our daughter wore on the drive.
I love her little sandals! I want them in my size so bad.
She used to hate hair bows! She didn't always, but then she went through a phase of always taking them off and chucking them. We lost many that were eventually found, but for awhile I kind of just gave up. But now, it's her favorite part of getting dressed and she loves to pick out which one to wear on her own. You can check out her hair bow holder here.
